2011 Rocky Mountain Karate Championship
May 2011 ~ Louisville, CO

We had 5 competitors.
We took 4 trophies total ! (not including participation medals)
1 - 1st    2 - 2nd    1 - 3rd

Officials of USA National Karate-do Federation and World Karate Federation attended. Over 30 international and national karate referees were in charge of the rings.

5 of our competitors (Andy, Angel, Alassane, Ali, and Soumain) went to the event. As usual, our team did very well. We took a first, a second, and a third place in Kumite, as well as a second place in Kata. This good performance was possible despite the fact that I experimented a new strategy by bumping up two of our novice competitors (Andy and Ali) to the intermediade division. I did this to challenge them in preparation for participation in international competitions as intermediates next year. Neither of them placed in trophy matches, but both did very well in their respective group. Angel (in the beginner division), Soumain (Novice) and Alassane (Advanced) took the 4 trophies.
