We had a strong showing at the 2013 Utah State Championship with 30 competitors registered. 3 of those registered did not participate. The 27 other athletes brought home 31 medals: 11 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze. All our competitors did very well. Spotlight on a few competitors:

  • The four competitors from our Montessori dojo (Jack Fuller, Isabella Prescott, Conor Smith and Amaan Raja) did extremely well. A sign that Montessori karate kids continue to excel.
  • Carys Winter and Isabella both competed in the novice division for the first time and took medals.
  • Silvio and Cristina were both at their first tournament, and both took medals.
  • Excellent improvement in Max Bernard and Malachi Barela who both won medals (patience and hard work paid off).
  • Harvey was bumped up to the black belt division, and he held up very well. I am sure those black belts now all know he is someone to watch closely in future tournaments.

Please join me in congratulating all our athletes. Thank you to parents who helped the foundation to pay for our sponsored students' registration fees.
